Tooth Extraction

When tooth troubles end at extraction, you may feel all alone — but you're not.

Dr. Mark Davis and the team at Davis Dentistry are here to help with judgment-free care.

By acting fast and visiting our Scottsdale, AZ, team as soon as possible, you can relieve pain and prevent future complications.

Acting Fast Can Save Your Smile

Notice symptoms like swelling, pain, or changes in your enamel color? When you seek dental care as soon as possible, you may be able to avoid an extraction entirely. Instead, Dr. Davis may be able to treat your tooth using dental fillings, a crown, or root canal therapy.

Extraction Consultation

If we can save your tooth with treatments like fillings, crowns, or root canal therapy, we will always recommend these less invasive options first. Sometimes, though, the only solution is an extraction — which we will make as simple as possible.

Dental Anesthetic

Our Scottsdale tooth extraction patients can rest assured that they'll be comfortable throughout treatment: the procedure starts with local anesthetic to thoroughly numb the treatment site. For those with anxiety or trouble staying still, our dentist can also prescribe oral conscious sedation ahead of time. Just remember, you will need a trusted person to drive you to and from your visit.

Preparing for Treatment

Our dentist will ensure your mouth and extraction site are sterile. Next, depending on your case, Dr. Davis may make an opening in your gums. Thanks to the anesthetic, the most you'll feel is a little pressure.

Tooth Extraction

Next, it's time to remove your tooth, along with the roots below the surface. Dr. Davis will make sure every part of the tooth structure is removed.

Helping You Heal

Once he removes your tooth or teeth, our dentist may send you home with antibiotics, as well as instructions for healing. Make sure to take the full course of antibiotics as directed. To minimize bleeding and protect the blood clot over your extraction site, Dr. Davis may also place gauze in your mouth.

What Happens After Dr. Davis Extracts My Teeth?

If you have wisdom teeth removed, you won't need any further care, as long as you're healing properly. Of course, if you notice any problems, you can always reach out to our team.

For other teeth, though, our dentist can refer you to a reputable Scottsdale, AZ, surgeon for dental implant placement after you've healed. Then, once the implant has fused with your gum and jaw, Dr. Davis can place a custom restoration.
